“YOUNG DRAGONS”
Who are we?
Caerphilly District Junior Rugby Association (CDJRA) is one of the 12 Junior Districts set up by the Welsh Rugby Union to promote rugby from the under 8’s to under 16’s. The boundaries of the Association are based on the boundary of Caerphilly County Borough Council. All Clubs that run Mini and Junior sides, within our boundary, must be affiliated to the Association.

The style of rugby that we aim to promote is a whole team handling game in which every player is equipped to play an active role as an attacker, defender and supporting player and in which the overall style of play gives them a chance to do so.
Our aim is to ensure that each player is given the opportunity to obtain the basic skills necessary for these roles.
Development  of the game is provided under the guidance of the Technical Directorate – Gwent Dragons Regional Coach and Community Development Manger, Mr James Chapron.
The four Development Officers are responsible for particular work areas within the Region, eg Mike Pugsley looks after Coach Education throughout the Region, Chris Garrett looks after Clubs within the Caerphilly District and Gareth Lewis looks after Schools within the District.
There is a full Coach Education Programme throughout the year and Referees Courses are provided on an “as and when needed” basis. Player Development is provided through the District Squads and their associated training sessions.
Along with the Gwent District we form part of the feeder Associations for the Newport Gwent Dragons Regional setup.
Many  of our Under 16’s have represented the Region in the past few Seasons. This forthcoming year should be no different.
